Dino

I've been wanting to create something in three dimensions lately. I was getting bored with the pen to paper route so I made this dinosaur. I thought it might be cute for Benny. It's made of felt and I embroidered some circles on it using a chain stitch. I might have to add some eyes. He still looks a little bland...

Colored Pencils

A colored pencil drawing I did recently...

Jack's Dance

I think Jack might have a future career as a street performer in the NYC subway...

Children's Museum

We spent Sunday morning at the Children's Museum in Providence. The kids had a great time and loved the funky mirrors.

They also have a great water table that the kids had a blast playing at. Even Benny got his hands wet.

Tomato Spice Cupcakes

I know what you're thinking...gross! But they were really good. My mother-in-law gave me a cookbook from her church and this was one of the recipes in it. It sounded so weird that I had to try it and they were actually really good. The kids loved them. Here's the recipe if you want to give it a try...

1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup sugar
1 can tomato soup, yes, tomato soup!
2 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg*
1 tsp cloves*
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder

*I used 1/2 tsp of these when I made these for the kids so they weren't too spicey

For frosting

1, 8 oz package cream cheese
1 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Cream melted butter and sugar. Add soup directly from can and beat until blended. Sift dry ingredients and add until just blended. Bake 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes or until done. Makes 12 to 14 cupcakes.
Mix icing ingredients until creamy. Enjoy!!

Misery...

Benny has double ear infections so this is what I've been listening to for the past two days...

First Ski Trip

Nora had her first ski trip this week. Jim took her night skiing after school this week. He said it was a little nerve racking at first. It seemed as if she always headed towards the woods and had a hard time staying on the trail. But by the end of the trip she was staying on track, doing turns, and was able to make it down the trail without falling. It's amazing how quickly kids pick things up!

Organization

I finally got around to making this laundry bag to take with us when we travel. I used to just take a garbage bag to separate the soiled laundry from the clean laundry but I think this will be better...

Bunny Bag

Here's a cute little bunny bag that I made for Nora from some scrap felt that I had. I was inspired by this book.
